Mission of ARF
To observe ancient mariners with utmost precision,
to inspire coastal communities with gentle enthusiasm,
and to exchange scientific findings across oceans and continents —
all in service of marine conservation and the enduring legacy of sea turtles.
Or, in simpler terms:
“Research. Outreach. Global science. For turtles, forever.”
At the Archelon Research Foundation, we maintain — quite sincerely — that the safeguarding of sea turtles is not the exclusive occupation of scientists in lab coats (charming though they may be).
To protect a species that traverses oceans and epochs,
we require a global chorus of caretakers:
coastal wanderers, curious snorkelers, spirited divers, seaside romantics, and all other admirers of the ancient mariners.
Thus, this humble foundation began — as most noble endeavors do —
with a community of ocean-minded allies determined to help, one photograph at a time.
Because saving a sea turtle population begins with noticing a single turtle.
